Overview

The 2023 Latinx Student Leadership Summit (LSLS), sponsored by Google in partnership with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and the Computing Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutions (CAHSI), will gather students from across the US and Puerto Rico for a two day summit. Now in its seventh year, this summit was created as an effort to bring Latinx leaders together to share innovative and creative best practices with one another, and collaborate with Google’s Latinx leadership to benefit students’ universities, organizations, and communities.

Acceptance to the 2023 Latinx Student Leadership Summit also includes access to the Google Buddy program, where you will be paired in small groups of other selected applicants with tech and non tech Googlers, personalized tech readiness programming, access to a social discord community/events, and more!

2023 Summit Goals

  • Tech Readiness: Provide workshops to LSLS participants with the industry’s tools and resources to make them feel prepared for future tech roles.
  • Leadership Development: Help students identify and utilize their unique “Latinx leadership” to foster community within their families, student organizations, and local universities.

What is the Latinx Student Leadership Summit?

The summit will be a two day summit from Saturday, April 29 to Sunday, April 30.

Why should I attend the summit?

Attending the summit will allow you to meet and network with other student leaders from across the country who are as passionate as you are! You’ll also have opportunities to collaborate with Googlers from a variety of engineering teams on developing solutions to increasing representation of the Latinx+ community in tech and how to best grow and leverage your leadership skills as a technologist. Where can I find the agenda?

The full agenda will be viewable to selected attendees via our website.

I’m only available to attend for part of the day. Can I still attend if selected?

Yes. We understand that current circumstances are not ideal and may create access issues for some attendees. Please reach out to us if there are scheduling issues as soon as possible if you are selected.

Will there be breaks during this summit?

Absolutely. We will be working in several breaks throughout the two day summit

Will Google provide travel scholarships to attend the Latinx Student Leadership Summit?

We will provide travel grants that cover hotel, flight, and local transportation expenses. During the two-day summit, we will also provide breakfast, lunch, small bites, snacks, and a dinner stipend. The remaining part of the evening will be free for you to explore the local Austin city life.

Will the sessions be recorded so I can watch later?

Due to our privacy policy, content will not be recorded.

Who is eligible to apply?

All current undergraduate students that are enrolled in a degree-granting program in the United States U.S. and Puerto Rico. Preferred qualifications are students currently pursuing a technical degree at a 4-year university/college (ie. CS, engineering, or tech-related majors/minors), but it is not required.

I am a graduate student. Am I eligible to apply?

Unfortunately, this particular event is for undergraduate students only.

What majors and grade levels can attend?

All majors and undergraduate grade levels are eligible to apply. Preferred qualifications are students studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering or tech-related majors.

I am currently attending a two-year university/community college but planning to transfer to a 4 year university. Can I apply?

Yes! If your future plans include transitioning to a four-year B.A. or BS program, please make sure that it is reflected in your resume that you will upload as part of your application.

If I applied last year but was not selected, can I apply again this year?

Yes! We encourage you to apply again. However, students selected to attend our 130 person national virtual summit (LSLS 2022) are ineligible to apply and will not be selected again.

Can professionals who are in college apply?

Provided that you are enrolled in a degree-granting program, you are eligible.

I am an international student studying in the US. Can I apply?

Yes. International undergraduate students studying in the U.S. and Puerto Rico are eligible to apply.

Do I need to identify as Hispanic and/or Latinx to apply?

No. The Application is open to all qualified students who meet the eligibility criteria.

What GPA preference are you looking for?

This event has no minimum GPA requirement but you must be in good standing with your university.

Is there a minimum age to apply?

You must be 18 or older by Saturday, April 29, 2023 to qualify for this opportunity.
