Program summary
Google is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with Google’s IWD Event Series. IWD 2020 consists of 15 global summits throughout the month of March. These summits recognize Women in technology by featuring speakers, workshops, and the opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals. Our goal is to create spaces where Women in tech can find community, inspiration, and empowerment. Learn more and apply today!
Event content
Google is excited to bring a mix of speakers and engagements to the various summits. While the locations will have unique structures and themes, all focus on creating spaces where Women in tech can find community, inspiration, and empowerment. Many summits will feature workshops presented by Google’s Women Techmakers. Visit the links in the Locations tab to learn more about what is taking place at your local event.

How to apply
Complete the IWD 2020 application by the application deadline for your location. Please note, the event team does not offer travel reimbursement, so we suggest applying to the summit in your local area.

What to consider when applying
- We strive to have a broad representation of attendees in tech including developers, designers, technology entrepreneurs, and many others across all phases of careers, backgrounds, genders, and walks of life. All are welcome to apply!
- You can apply to any summit location, but please note that we do not reimburse any travel expenses for the summit.
- Different summit locations have different deadlines to apply. Applications for a given city will not be accepted after the deadline.
Application review timeline
The applications for a given location will be reviewed at the same time, once the application deadline has passed. You will hear back on your status two weeks after the location's application deadline.

What is IWD?
International Women's Day (IWD), marked on March 8th every year, “is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.”
Why does Google celebrate IWD?
We're proud of the contributions Women in technology make across our industry and across our company. Google supports and celebrates Women in technology through numerous initiatives, including the Small Business Supplier Diversity and Accelerate with Google programs, the Google Cultural Institute, our Women@ employee resource group, and more. International Women's Day is an important moment to recognize how Women have influenced the tech industry and beyond.

Will the summits have workshops?
Some summits will feature workshops presented by Google’s Women Techmakers. The goal of the workshops is to offer opportunities for attendees to hone their skills and progress their careers in tech. Visit the links in the Locations tab to learn more about what is being offered at the different summits.
What is Google’s Women Techmakers?
Google’s Women Techmakers is dedicated to helping Women thrive in technology through community, visibility and resources. As a part of International Women’s Day and Google’s IWD Event Series, Women Techmakers will be presenting workshops for Women to hone their skills and progress their careers in tech. When will I find out if I was accepted into the summit?
The applications for a given location will be reviewed at the same time, once the application deadline has passed. You will receive an update on your status no more than two weeks after the application deadline.
If I attended an IWD summit in the past, am I guaranteed a spot for 2020?
We will review all applications fully, however, due to space constraints we are unable to guarantee entry for any applicant.
Why are the Atlanta and Los Angeles summits focused on specific groups of Women?
While a part of Google’s IWD Event Series, the Atlanta and Los Angeles summits are designed Black+ Women (Atlanta), and Hispanic Women and Latinas (Los Angeles). These events will create space to celebrate the unique experiences shared within these communities.
